2015 Seaview Manor Bazaar

My retirement project for the past 9 years has been to organize and produce an arts and crafts bazaar that provides an outlet for coastal artists and benefits a charity. Two of the side benefits have been getting to know the community of Seaside and making some new friends. I love this bazaar!

Brianna Lichnovsky has designed a fabulous poster for us once again. Once she creates the design and paints it in watercolors, she sends it to me to add the text. She is staying with the ocean theme to coincide with "Seaview Manor Bazaar." I love the whimsical nature of her painting.

So now I add the text and bounce it off Carolyn, my co-chair, and Bree for their input. It changes a bit depending on the size of the poster or postcard. It may be something like this:

Bazaar
at Seaview Manor
135 12th Avenue
Seaside, Oregon 97138

October 23, 24, 2015
10 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Credit is given to Bree for the artwork, and somewhere on the poster will be the following information: "Benefits The Harbor (formerly named the Clatsop County Women's Resource Center)".

We take 10% of the vendors' sales and donate all of it to The Harbor for their work with abused family members. The many hours that go into planning and conducting the bazaar are donated. If you notice the shifting between "I" and "we" it's because lots of people work incredibly hard!

Mickie Skinner, Photographer and Painter

Mickie has once again managed to squeeze our bazaar into her busy schedule of photographing and painting and providing the results to boutiques, gift shops, animal rescue foundations, and more.

"Nature on nature" is what she calls her newest work on stone...

and on wood.

Mickie uses her own process to place her photography on coasters...

tiles...

and mouse pads.

She also does commissioned work.

You're going to love making selections from the many options she will have available at our bazaar at Seaview Manor, 135 12th Avenue in Seaside, Oregon, October 23 and 24, 20015.

Jan Espelund, Knitter

Jan makes her home in Seaside, on the Necanicum River. The surrounding mountains and waters are the inspiration for the beautiful yarns she uses.

See what she has in store for us this year!

And she hasn't forgotten whimsical creations for the kids.

Jan will have lots of items to choose from as gifts for yourself or family and friends. Come see us at 135 12th Avenue, Seaside, OR, October 23 and 24, from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Honey Perkel, Author

Honey Perkel believes in us, and we believe in her! She loves Seaside and she loves to write - a great combination! And she has tackled just about every genre.

Historical Romance: The Faithful Daughter moves from the Jewish district in Denver to the shores of Seaside, Oregon.

Non-fiction: Just Breathe is a memoir capturing Honey's fight to save her son who suffered from addiction and mental illness.

Fiction: The trilogy, A Thousand Summers, Secrets at the Cove, and A Place Called Paradise show her love of the Oregon Coast.

Mystery:

I'm not sure if her next book, Between Two Shores, will be available at the bazaar, but it's something to look forward to, so keep her website handy: honeyperkel.com

Honey will have lots of books available for purchase at the Seaview Manor Bazaar October 23 and 24, 2015. Come see us at 135 12th Avenue in Seaside, OR, 97138.

Gloria Linkey, Author

We would like to welcome Gloria Linkey, author and current resident of Seaside, Oregon, to our bazaar.

Returning to Seaside after a number of years in California, Gloria has been able to rekindle her passion for the early history of the Pacific Northwest and the people who settled there. Her research led her to develop a series of talks about Lewis and Clark and write the historical novel pictured below.

Caring for animals with compassion is the theme of Abby, a great book to read with children.

Gloria is currently a member of the national and local Lewis & Clark Heritage Trail Foundation. She serves as administrator of the Pacific Northwest Living Historians, is a past president of the Seaside Museum and Historical Society, and is a board member of the Knappton Cove Heritage Foundation.

Gearing Up for 2015

This will be our ninth Seaview Manor Bazaar, held in Seaside, Oregon, in October of each year.

The Harbor (formerly named the Clatsop County Women's Resource Center) is a fine charity to which we donate the proceeds.

The Pacific coast of the Northwest has an abundance of artists.

The setting on the coast provides access to a great walk on the beach after your shopping.

The house is perfect for such an event.

What more do we need? Oh, yes...customers. That's where you, the reader, come in. Please spread the word. We are open to the public October 23 and 24, 2015, 10 am - 4 pm. 135 12th Avenue, Seaside, OR, 97138
